An ancient Egyptian cat takes over bread-making duties while a mouse attempts to steal a bit of dough. The hieroglyphs and (determinatives) say, "The (Mouse) Thief and the Baker (Cat)", roughly pronounced "Itchoo Ertekhtee". The cat is using a traditional food-preparation table that allowed scraps or loose flour to roll to the bottom for reuse.
While this is in the style of the British Museum's "Animals Behaving Like People", this is an original design in modern replacements for period pigments and not an image in the public domain. Acrylic on sustainable papyrus.
Contact through Etsy: http://saganandloki.etsy.com . Petrie Serrano is a New Yorker who came to Georgia by way of South Dakota. She finally settled not far from the Appalachian Trail with her husband, her son, two live cats, several uninvited scorpions-- and a ghost cat named Loki who graciously takes the blame for eating all the fresh cookies. I do not use the email list or contact feature on Pixels.com or Fine Art America. Contact me for originals through Etsy: http://saganandloki.etsy.com or follow Loki on the listed social media sites for new products and general Loki nonsense.
