Artist's Description
Conceptually "Spice Mining" is "How Sandworms Perceive Spice Mining". Although sandworms in the Dune universe can't actually "see", they are attracted to all rhythmic sounds in the desert of Arrakis, so spice harvesters often become targets.
It's an op art piece, the contrasts between the colors cause it to shimmer or beat when you see it up close. I put the blues at the edges to make the illusion there stronger. This piece precisely matches the coloring of the other paintings in the Dune gallery.
About Pet Serrano
Contact through Etsy: http://saganandloki.etsy.com . Petrie Serrano is a New Yorker who came to Georgia by way of South Dakota. She finally settled not far from the Appalachian Trail with her husband, her son, two live cats, several uninvited scorpions-- and a ghost cat named Loki who graciously takes the blame for eating all the fresh cookies. I do not use the email list or contact feature on Pixels.com or Fine Art America. Contact me for originals through Etsy: http://saganandloki.etsy.com or follow Loki on the listed social media sites for new products and general Loki nonsense.
